Here are a few looks from the Fall 2011 GUCCI, STELLA MCCARTNEY, CHANEL & OSCAR DE LA RENTA runway shows. Fall is the time to change up your makeup and go a little bolder.
1. Darker lips and spider lashes
For a vintage-inspired red lip, apply concealer around the lip line and stain lips with two shades of rich red. Use a darker red on the center of the lip and a medium red on the outside. – Pat McGrath, makeup artist
How to create spider lashes? Really bat the brush into the lashes, two swipes of mascara, plus a final application concentrated just at the lash tips to give them a thick, spiky effect. Use a mini brush to coat the delicate lower lashes. - Pat McGrath, makeup artist
2. Bold Brows
Bold brows will frame exaggerated lashes. Fill in the arches with a pencil, then setting with a matching powder. – Pat McGrath, makeup artist
3. Metallic and dramatic smoky eyes
The Chanel Illusion D’Ombre are intensely shimmering long-wear eyeshadows. You can apply thick, or you can also blend for a transparent look. – Peter Philips, makeup artist
For smoky eyes, eye shadows don’t have to be perfectly applied to create a sultry eye. I will smoosh the shadow about the eye. – Pat McGrath, makeup artist
4. Rosy cheeks
For an everyday translation, focus color on the apples and cheekbones , and stick to a pink hue—mauve or bronze shades aren’t as “youthful”. – Pat McGrath, makeup artist
