Its very uncommon for me to have a meal that doesn’t end with a dessert. I like my sweets, even if it’s just a small treat, like chocolate or a drink. On this day I happened to stop by Thierry Café. The weather was nice so I opted to sit out on the patio on enjoy my treat.
I had a quick peek at the gorgeous display of chocolates, pastries and macaroons, right away I knew I was going to love this place.
I love Hazelnuts, and the options here were endless, but the one that stood out was the “Hazelnut Choux”.
Choux dough is the same that is used to make éclairs. In this instance, the dough is then filled with a hazelnut pastry cream, then dipped in caramel, then dipped again in roasted hazelnuts.
The carmel and hazelnut crunch was amazing. And the pastry cream inside tasted like crème brule. To accompany this, I ordered café latte. Was a nice surprise to see that the barista made a heart shape in it.
After my first visit here, I ended up stopping by another two times throughout that week. The desserts are that good!
Its also open late, so it’s a perfect place for after dinner tea, scoop of ice cream or small chocolate.
The macaroons flavors are rotated daily here and all that I tried were quite tasty. The few I tried were Chocolate Caramel, Lime, Lemon, Passion fruit and Gianduja (chocolate with hazelnuts and almonds).
If you love people watching, sit outside on the patio and have enjoy a loose-leaf tea, it comes in its own teapot. Thierry Café is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Vancouver. Did I mention Free wi-fi is available? Icing on the cake!
