2012 Cancer New Moon

The sound of a drum filled the night air as Snowy Owl and Shooting Star climbed the path to the Star Temple. Bar-rum, Bar-um, Bar-um. It grew louder the closer they got to the Sacred Space. Bar-um, Bar-um, Bar-um.When the sisters entered the Temple they remembered why the drum was singing. This Moon cycle was about connecting to the heartbeat of the Earth Mother and honouring the gifts she offered to all of her kingdoms, including the two leggeds.
In the center of the Star Temple beating the drum in unison they found their mother Flicker and the three Shamans. Black Beetle, Red Crab, and Painted Turtle only joined the ceremony when a powerful message was being shared. As Snowy Owl and Shooting Star joined the others the drum fell silent and Sister Moon spoke.
“I am here to remind all two leggeds, now and in the far away time, that life is a river. With each passing season the riverbanks change and you must learn to flow with the changes. When you paddle upstream against the current it is hard work and you do not reach your destination. You become very tired and drained. When you allow your canoe to turn around and go downstream you are in alignment with the flow of the river and life. Only the kingdom of the two leggeds goes against the flow. My message for this Moon cycle is to learn to let go and flow.”
The Star Temple was silent as each person thought about what they needed to let go of and flow with life rather than fight with it.
The sign of Cancer is Cardinal Water and I associate it with the river. The other Water signs are Scorpio, the whirlpool, and Pisces, the ocean. Water is symbolic of emotion but also strong intuitive knowing and spiritual guidance. This New Moon at 26 degrees of Cancer has a Pisces influence so the theme is learning how to master your emotions so you do not drown in an emotional ocean. Once you are master of yourself you are then guided by your Soul’s wisdom.
This is a very spiritual Moon. The traditional ruler of Cancer is the Moon so she is very strong for this cycle. She symbolizes our emotional responses to life but also our spiritual path. The next influence is Jupiter currently in Gemini at this New Moon. He is square Chiron in Pisces encouraging us to heal the past and continue to write our new story. He is inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn which can create confusion and resistance but he is working in harmony with Uranus, breakthrough, in Aries, new beginnings and Mercury Rx, our deepest thoughts in Leo, the courage to change.
The Soul Centered ruler for this Lunation is Neptune, illusion or enlightenment. He is in Pisces, forgiveness and healing, and traveling with Chiron, The Healer. He is Square, finding new ways of doing things, the North Node in Sagittarius, the new spiritual path, and Vesta, at-one-ness within, the South Node, the past, and Jupiter, expansion, growth, and manifestation of your vision all in Gemini, your new story. When a planet squares the nodes it is powerful. Neptune is asking you to heal, release your old wounds, and experience enlightenment so you can make a difference in the world.
This is the Hot Sun and Long Days Moon Time. Cancer is the sign of our roots and ancestry, our current family tribe, and our emotional reactions to life. But it is also the sign of mastering the emotions and stepping onto the Mystical Path and living our Spiritual Destiny. Flicker of the Woodpecker family is the guide for this Moon cycle as we learn the lesson of mastering the emotions. This Animal Totem teaches how to experience transition effortlessly and easily so transformation can occur. This Winged One reminds us that when we experience transition in our life IT IS leading to transformation and new opportunities. This is also a time for new growth, expansion, healing, and love.
Loves All Things is the Clan Mother for this Cancer New Moon. She is the Guardian of non-judgmental, compassionate, and unconditional love. She teaches us the wisdom of allowing and respecting the sacredness of all life. She reminds us when we love and heal ourselves only then can we free our authentic self. The Tarot Constellation that is activated by this New Moon is The Chariot, the principle of Mastery Through Change. It is the vibration of the Sacred Number 7 which is found in all spiritual traditions. I call it stepping onto the Mystical Path. In the symbolism of the seventh Tarot card a chariot is being pulled by two horses. One is white and the other is black. They are trying to go in different directions. The Charioteer needs to find inner mastery and channel that power into the horses so they will unite and move forward together taking the Charioteer where she or he wants to go. The Horse is a symbol for strength, movement, and freedom.
This Cancer New Moon is expressed on the 7Th Ray of Ceremonial Order and White Magic. It is the Ray of Ascension with Archangels Zadkiel, Invocation and Prayer, and Amethyst, Forgiveness and Freedom as our guides. They are the Keepers of the Violet Flame of Transmutation and Illumination. The other Ray is the 3rd of Divine Mind and Active Intelligence with Archangels Chamuel, Divine Love and Adoration, and Charity, Gratitude and Grace. As always these Archangels will guide us with Love and Divine Compassion when we call on them. They are emissaries of Creator and Great Mystery.

I have included the day and time the Moon enters a new sign. This is particularly relevant for this cycle as Sister Moon is the ruler. The 8 phases describe the geometric interaction of the Moon and the Sun and their theme.
Mars in Libra trine Jupiter in Gemini- July 17- 8.38am EDT- Mars in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn- 4.26pm EDT- These two aspects are kind of conflicting. The early Mars trine Jupiter is supporting your new story especially when it involves transforming relationship. The Mars/Pluto square will bring up the issues in need of healing so be prepared to do the work.
Jupiter in Gemini inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn- July 18- 5.46am EDT- Moon in Cancer square Saturn in Libra- 5.24pm EDT- Mars in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries- 10.55pm EDT- These planetary alignments emphasize whatever issues came forward with yesterday’s Mars/Pluto square. There may be resistance to healing from you or the person you are in relationship with. The Mars/Uranus opposition can be quite volatile so make sure you are in your compassionate heart as you sort things out. Remember the Mercury retrograde is in full swing. Think carefully before you act.
Cancer New Moon- July 19- 12.25am EDT to July 22- 5.01pm EDT- For the next year we will be experiencing a Full Moon (this month Capricorn/Cancer on July 03) that comes before the New Moon in the same pair of astrological energies. Full Moon’s are about completion so make sure you are not bringing any old issues you should have released July 03 into this New Moon cycle. Cancer is the sign of deep emotions, strong intuition, and spiritual destiny. Use this New Moon guided by the Winged One, Flicker of the Woodpecker Family, to make the transition from being controlled by your emotions to being master of them so you can step onto your spiritual destiny path. Moon enters Leo- 6.13am EDT- The Moon now gives you the opportunity to be courageous as you step forward onto your spiritual path. Mars in Libra inconjunct Chiron in Pisces- 11.09pm EDT- This aspect will help you identify what still be needs to healed and transformed in relationship. Look deeply within and the answer will be there. Chiron is the healer and helps us find solutions to the problem and Pisces is the connection to Creator and Great Mystery.
Moon enters Virgo- July 21- 1.24pm EDT- Sister Moon is in her Soul Centered home until July 23. Focus on mind, body, and spirit alignment and let your inner knowing be your guide. Brown Bear, introspection and healing, is supporting you.
Jupiter in Gemini sextile Uranus in Aries- July 22- 12.04am EDT- Use this harmonious aspect to inspire you to continue your journey on your spiritual path and activate your new story in an authentic way. Sun enters Leo-6.01am EDT-We now enter the Ripe Berries Time until Aug 22. The Sun is very strong in Leo as that is the sign he rules. This is a very creative and inspirational influence but you must be heart centered not ego centered to reap the rewards. The Finned One Salmon, perseverance, determination, and courage is our guide. Just remember Mercury, your thoughts and how you communicate, is still retrograde in Leo until Aug 08 and does not clear his shadow until Aug 22. Patience will be required until then. Mercury Rx in Leo sextile Mars in Libra- 6.55am EDT- Use this harmonious connection to inspire you to create what you want especially in relationship to your new life story and the others who are travelling with you.
Virgo Crescent Moon- July 22- 5.01pm EDT to July 26- 4.57am EDT- This is the expansion and growth phase. When we are creating the new it often involves struggle. Virgo is the sign that seeks perfection and wants to know it is doing things correctly. It can create struggle as a result and the opportunity that imperfection provides is missed. Let your Soul guide you as you experience the new doorways opening up. Moon in Virgo square Venus in Gemini- 8.44pm EDT- This aspect might create some misunderstanding especially among sisters and friends. If your communication is not clear you will be adding to the problem. Make sure you are saying what you really want to say in a kind and loving way. Then you will be heard and received with love.
Moon enters Libra- July 23- 6.38pm EDT- Libra is the sign of partnership and relationship will be the focus until July 25. We have some challenging aspects tomorrow so be clear about what you want to experience. Tonight would be a good time to create a new relationship vision that aligns with your new story.
Moon in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn- July 24- 7.59am EDT- Jupiter in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces-9.08am EDT- Mercury Rx in Leo sextile Jupiter in Gemini- 3.14pm EDT- Mercury Rx in Leo inconjunct Chiron in Pisces- 5.22pm EDT- Sun in Leo inconjunct Neptune in Pisces- 9.34pm EDT- With the exception of the Mercury/Jupiter sextile this is a challenging day. The planets are not very happy with each other and that will create stress in relationship. Best to take some quiet time alone. Tomorrow promises more clarity so you can see things without emotional responses. Remember this Moon cycle is about mastering the emotions.
Mercury Rx in Leo trine Uranus Rx in Aries- July 25- 9.27am EDT- The first time the planet of the Mind and the planet of Breakthrough met in this aspect of ease and flow was July 04. That was a day for breaking free to your new story. Since they are now both retrograde it is time to review what still needs to be released. They will meet again in this trine aspect on Aug 18 and Mercury will almost be clear of his retrograde shadow by then. Focus on where you want to be by then. Moon enters Scorpio- 10.29pm EDT- Sister Moon is supporting you to release what no longer serves you. Let Snake guide you as you shed the old and make space for the new.
Scorpio First Quarter Moon- July 26- 4.57am EDT to July 29- 2.09pm EDT- Mercury Rx in Leo inconjunct Pluto Rx in Capricorn- 3.12pm EDT- The keywords for the First Quarter phase are make a decision, take action, and break through or break free. This may be a little difficult with the Mercury Rx inconjunct Pluto. You may “think” you know logically what you want to break free from but when Mercury is retrograde logic goes out the window. Use the energy of today to look beneath the surface and let your intuitive knowing guide you to the best choice.
Moon enters Sagittarius- July 28- 1.18am EDT- During the Moon’s journey through the sign of the archer you have the opportunity to connect with your spiritual vision in a powerful way. Meditation is very supported as a way to do that. Sun conjunct Mercury Rx in Leo- 3.57pm EDT- Usually this aspect would be full steam ahead. But with Mercury Rx it is better to look inward rather than act. Use this aspect to strengthen your connection to your spiritual vision and your new story.
Sagittarius Gibbous Moon- July 29- 2.09pm EDT to Aug 01- 11.28pm EDT- The keywords for this phase are analyze and adjust, evaluate and redefine, so you can bring all you are focused on into an integrated whole.Again the Moon in Sagittarius is supporting you to live your spiritual vision and new story.
Sun in Leo inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn- July 30- 3.09am EDT- Moon enters Capricorn- 3.29am EDT- These activations can be difficult if you are focused on the material/physical plane. Capricorn is not Sister Moon’s favorite sign. But Snow Goose is the Animal Totem who now guides the Moon. She is asking you to follow your spiritual vision and live your Soul Purpose. When you focus on Spirit you will always be supported.
Sun in Leo trine Uranus in Aries- July 31- 1.21am EDT- Venus in Gemini trine Saturn in Libra- 3.38am EDT- These early morning aspects are breakthrough activations. If you live in North America you need to be a “night owl” to take advantage of them. If you are asleep pay attention to the dreamtime messages. Sun in Leo inconjunct Chiron in Pisces- 8.10am EDT- Moon in Capricorn square Saturn in Libra- 7.30pm EDT- Moon in Capricorn inconjunct Venus in Gemini- 8.24pm EDT- The rest of today is very challenging especially for relationship. We are still in the Gibbous Phase so use these influences to evaluate relationship dynamics rather than reacting emotionally. Remember we are in the Moon cycle of mastering the emotions.
Moon enters Aquarius- Aug 01- 5.56am EDT - Aquarius/Leo Full Moon- Aug 01- 11.28pm EDT to Aug 05- 2.34pm EDT- The Aquarius Full Moon activates this theme; the courage and inner strength to be your authentic self in all aspects of your life. The Animal Totem who guides us is Otter, playfulness, sharing, and joy. Use this Full Moon to release any ego issues that block you from living a joyful life. We will write more at the Full Moon.
