I have really enjoyed using the iPad when trying out new recipes.  I can view the ingredient portions and steps for the recipes.  Another plus is I can enlarge everything on my screen when needed.

Which brings me to one of my favourite cookbook authors, Donna Hay.  Her recipes focus on basic ingredients and simple preparation.  Her books and magazine are avaiable at most books stores and can be downloaded online.  She recently launched the Donna Hay magazine for iPad.  The app features all the recipes from the magazine, plus how-to-videos.  This new digital magazine is just like the print version with a few extra tips and a cleaver cook mode that makes cooking must easier.
